Stop Trump‘s Illegal Forever War, Constitution Says You Must

I am writing as a constituent deeply concerned by recent reports that President Trump has actively weighed a return to all-out war with Iran, holding discussions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine regarding potential new strikes. While the administration has chosen to stick with diplomatic talks for the moment, the fact that a return to full-scale military conflict is being deliberated behind closed doors is deeply alarming. Beyond the severe geopolitical risks, the economic reality is that these military conflicts inevitably burden the American middle class, driving up inflation, energy prices, and the national debt. Meanwhile, the wealthiest top one percent and defense contractors seem to reap the financial benefits, further widening the economic gap. Everyday Americans simply cannot afford the financial fallout of another unconstitutional conflict. Under Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, the power to declare war belongs explicitly to Congress—not the executive branch. I urge you to assert your constitutional authority. Congress must take proactive measures to ensure that any offensive military operations require explicit congressional authorization. Please reassert the War Powers Resolution and ensure the executive branch cannot plunge our country into war without a formal declaration.
