Protect what's human. Regulate AI.

I’m writing because I’m concerned that AI is rapidly changing how Americans work, how we relate to one another, and how our kids develop — with little oversight or accountability. The companies building AI openly say they want it to do everything humans can do, only faster and cheaper. We believe in progress and innovation, but true innovation should empower us, not replace us. We welcome AI tools that help us work and learn more efficiently, and that unlock advances in science and medicine. But technology must remain a tool under our control — not a substitute for human judgment, and not something that reshapes our lives without our input. That’s why I’m asking you to support common-sense regulation of AI, just as we’ve done with every other powerful technology — from automobiles and aviation to pharmaceuticals and nuclear energy. We need clear standards that keep us safe and keep humans in control. AI will affect everyone. Its future shouldn’t be decided for us in Silicon Valley boardrooms or by beltway lobbyists. It should be shaped with input from the communities across America who will have to live with its consequences. We should have a say. America's greatest strength has always been human: our workers, our families, and our communities. I'm counting on you to stand with us and protect what matters most.
