An open letter to State Governors

Breaking solar contracts is illegal and loses faith in Governor Newsom.

5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

Breaking a contract is unacceptable and illegal. The excessive energy costs are primarily due to the utilities' inability to control their spending on infrastructure and profiteering, not rooftop solar. We invested in solar energy systems based on the state's guaranteed 20-year net metering contract, which provided assurances of utility bill savings. Reneging on this agreement would undermine consumer confidence and harm the fight against climate change. Instead of penalizing solar customers, the administration should focus on reining in monopolistic utility spending and enacting policies that accelerate the transition to clean, distributed energy resources.
