Please Protect Oregon’s Farmstands and Agritourism

The proposed rules from the Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) threaten the viability of small farms in Oregon by creating new restrictions, fees, and enforcement systems for farm stands and agritourism businesses. These enterprises are crucial for many family farms to stay afloat amidst the challenges faced by the agricultural sector. They provide supplemental income, support local jobs, and preserve Oregon's agricultural heritage. Rather than burdening these operations with additional regulations, we should be supporting them as they contribute to the state's rural economy and communities. Small farms play a vital role in maintaining Oregon's agricultural roots and providing opportunities for families to connect with the land through activities like u-pick, farm dinners, and festivals. I urge you to oppose these proposed rules and instead work towards policies that make it easier for farms to diversify and remain viable through agritourism ventures.
