Demand for Transparency – DOJ Obstruction of EFTA and DEA Records

I am writing to express my outrage regarding recent reports that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has personally intervened to block the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from complying with congressional oversight and the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA). Specifically, it has come to light that the DOJ is preventing the release of an unredacted 2015 memorandum concerning Operation Chain Reaction. This DEA investigation into drug trafficking, prostitution, and money laundering by Jeffrey Epstein and his associates is a matter of critical importance for getting justice for the victims. Reports indicate that DEA Administrator Terry Cole was prepared to release these documents until Deputy AG Blanche stepped in to obstruct the process. The EFTA was passed to ensure that powerful individuals are not shielded by redactions intended only to protect victims. By withholding these unclassified documents, the Department of Justice is: - Obstructing Congressional Oversight: Preventing the Senate Finance Committee from investigating the financial systems that enabled a sex-trafficking empire. - Violating the EFTA: Using redactions to protect the identities of criminal associates rather than victims. - Eroding Public Trust: Continuing a decades-long pattern of protecting powerful men at the expense of justice for survivors. I am calling on you to take the following immediate actions to compel DOJ compliance: 1. Get the Document: Demand that Deputy AG Blanche immediately authorize the release of the unredacted Chain Reaction memorandum. 2. Initiate a Transcribed Interview: Demand that Deputy AG Todd Blanche appear for a transcribed interview to explain why he overrode the DEA’s decision to release these documents. 3. Legislative Amendment: Support an amendment to the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA) to include a "Judicial Review" or "Special Master" provision, allowing a neutral judge—rather than the DOJ itself—to decide what remains redacted. 4. Hold a Contempt Vote: Since the DOJ continues to ignore the EFTA’s mandate by hiding records of criminal associates (as opposed to victims), I urge you to move for a Contempt of Congress citation against the Deputy Attorney General. We cannot allow the DOJ to operate as a black box that shields the enablers of pedophilia and sex trafficking.
