An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Please do not kill Section 230!

Repealing Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act would have catastrophic effects on businesses and the open internet. This law provides critical liability protections that allow online platforms to host and moderate user-generated content without facing crippling legal risks. Stripping these protections would stifle innovation, free expression, and economic growth by forcing platforms to strictly control all content posted by users. It would empower frivolous lawsuits and embolden censorship. Section 230 has facilitated the rise of today's internet ecosystem and allowed small businesses to thrive online. Overturning it based on misguided criticisms would deal a severe blow to American competitiveness in the digital age. I urge you to reject any efforts to undermine Section 230 and maintain this foundational law that has been vital for entrepreneurs, consumers, and the internet economy.
