Oppose cruel cuts endangering LGBTQ youth mental health

The proposed cuts to the National Suicide Hotline's program for LGBTQ youth are extremely concerning and will have devastating impacts. LGBTQ youth are already at a heightened risk for mental health crises and suicide attempts due to societal discrimination and lack of support. Eliminating trained counselors who can provide culturally competent and compassionate care will undoubtedly lead to more lives lost. This decision goes against all principles of providing vital crisis resources and promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable populations. I urge you to vocally oppose these cruel cuts that will endanger LGBTQ youth across the country. Their lives and mental health must be prioritized over any manufactured excuses like budgetary motivations. Steps should be taken to expand, not restrict, access to affirming and potentially life-saving care through the National Suicide Hotline. You must decide which side of history you will stand on. People remember many more than Hitler's name when we talk about the last time policies blatantly targeted marginalized communities.
