Money for Healthcare and Cost of Living, Not More Wars

I am writing to demand immediate action from Congress to restore and extend the Affordable Care Act premium tax credit subsidies that expired on January 1, 2026. Millions of Americans are now facing massive health insurance increases because Congress failed to act. For many families, premiums have more than doubled this year, with average costs rising about 114 percent after the enhanced subsidies expired (KFF, 2026; AP News, January 2026). At a time when groceries, housing, utilities, and insurance are already rising, allowing health care costs to explode is reckless. Americans were promised relief. We were told costs would go down. Instead, families are paying more for everything and getting nothing in return from Washington. A year ago we heard promises of $2,000 rebate checks, $2 trillion in waste eliminated, tariffs replacing income taxes, lower energy bills, and no new wars. None of that happened. Instead, Americans are watching prices rise while the federal government drifts into new foreign conflicts that will cost billions and risk American lives. Now there is escalating involvement with Iran and growing tensions in Venezuela and Cuba. The American people were promised the opposite. Congress works for the public, not for any president or party. It is your responsibility to protect Americans from economic pain, not rubber-stamp whatever the White House wants or spend billions abroad while families cannot afford health coverage at home. The first step is simple and urgent. Pass legislation immediately to restore and extend the enhanced ACA premium tax credits that kept insurance affordable for more than 20 million Americans. Bring a clean extension to the floor and vote on it now. Americans need relief from rising costs, not more excuses and not another blank check for foreign conflicts.
