Reject any legislative deal that bundles the Kids Online Safety Act, the NO FAKES Act, and age verification mandates together — regardless of what it promises in return. This package would hand the government unprecedented control over online speech, and no trade-off justifies that.
Each piece of this deal is a problem on its own. KOSA would force platforms to restrict lawful speech and let government dictate how speech platforms are designed. The NO FAKES Act would bury everyday creators, satirists, and critics in litigation risk for making memes and parodies — conduct already covered by existing fraud and defamation law. Age verification mandates would require Americans to show ID before accessing constitutionally protected speech online, eliminating anonymity for everyone. These aren't edge cases. They are the core functions of the bills.
The question here is simple: does power over online speech belong to the American people or to the government? Vote no on this package. Block it from moving forward. The First Amendment doesn't have a carve-out for legislative convenience.
