Support/Vote YES on HR 3454 POCCA - Stop the Steal & Freezing of Funds by Trump

Today I take pen in hand to write in support of the recently introduced The Protecting Our Constitution and Communities Act (H.R. 3454) aka POCCA. In my view, this is vital legislation that would empower the American people and our Congress to hold the Executive Branch accountable for unlawfully impounding congressionally approved federal funds. This administration's repeated violations of the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act undermine the constitutional separation of powers and harm communities across the nation. I approve of the way POCCA creates a legal pathway for individuals, states, and localities to fight back against arbitrary funding freezes that threaten critical programs supporting affordable housing, infrastructure, public safety, environmental protection, and more. It reasserts Congress's power of the purse and prevents the Executive from unilaterally gutting funding for agencies like the EPA. As noted in your report on the bill, Numerous organizations dedicated to accountable government have endorsed this reform, recognizing its importance in challenging the Trump administration's unconstitutional withholding of funds. I absolutely approve how bill would help ensure federal dollars properly reach their intended purposes of serving the American people rather than being obstructed for political aims. I’ve seen numerous effects locally of the discriminatory and capricious way Trump and his people interfere with the budget and approval process. With the POCCA, communities regain the ability to protect their federal funding streams and uphold the system of checks and balances the founders put in place. I urge advancing this H.R. 3454 to defend the Constitution, the rule of law, and the rights of all Americans. Thank you for your service.
