Every day the news reveals further proof that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is woefully inadequate, grossly incompetent, and a clear danger to the safety of our country and our men and women in uniform. Today’s news, first reported by Fox News, is that he will slash the senior leadership of the military by as much as 20% — in the midst of a war (regardless of how ill-advised the war may be).
Mr. Hegseth advocated for and has led a war that seems to be unending and is by now illegal. In the earliest days of that war he oversaw what now have been determined by the United Nations likely war crimes. He has promoted unscientific opinions about testosterone and body shape/composition (height-to-waist ratios). He misquotes Christian Scripture (and even recently quoted a fake Bible passage from Pulp Fiction) in his overtly Christian Nationalist Pentagon “worship services.” He routinely blocks the promotions of highly qualified candidates, and has pushed out highly decorated, highly respected senior leaders of the military.
When will Congress realize that this is all not only beyond the pale but also rises to impeachable offenses? It is time that you sign onto articles of impeachment against Mr. Hegseth and then vote to convict and to remove him from office.
