An open letter to the U.S. Congress

The Posse Comitatus Act was designed to prevent this

I urge Congress to take clear action to reaffirm that the U.S. military must never be used as a domestic police force or a political tool. In a recent speech, the President suggested using American cities as “training grounds” for the armed forces. That idea is deeply troubling. Our neighborhoods are not battlefields, and our fellow citizens must never be treated as adversaries. The Posse Comitatus Act was designed to prevent this. The Insurrection Act is meant for extraordinary circumstances, not as a routine tool for political gain. Congress has a duty to ensure these principles are not eroded. Please act to: • Prohibit the routine use of federal troops for domestic law enforcement without explicit congressional approval. • Require notice, oversight, and accountability for any domestic deployment of federal forces. • Establish clear limits and safeguards against misuse of military power on U.S. soil.
