An open letter to the U.S. Congress

A Patriotic Duty to America’s Seniors, Vets & Workers

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I urge you to take a firm stand against Social Security Administration (SSA) staffing cuts and restrictive policies that threaten the financial stability, health, and dignity of millions of Americans who have earned their benefits. Protecting Social Security is not just policy—it is a patriotic duty and moral responsibility. It represents a sacred promise between the government and hardworking citizens. Upholding it is a matter of honor, integrity, and national strength. The proposed 7,000 SSA staff cuts (12%) and closure of six out of ten regional offices will cripple SSA’s ability to serve the people it was created to protect. These cuts do not make government efficient; they create bureaucratic bottlenecks, delaying benefits for seniors, veterans, and workers. (Source: NPR, American Progress) Additionally, the in-person verification mandate is an unnecessary burden on rural Americans, disabled veterans, and seniors who cannot easily access SSA offices. Instead of reducing waste, it creates more inefficiencies and hardship. (Source: AP News) These policies will cause: • Housing Instability – Evictions and foreclosures due to delayed benefits. • Health Risks – Loss of essential medications and healthcare, raising costs. • Food Insecurity – Seniors forced to choose between food and basic necessities. Social Security is not a giveaway—it is a contract between America and its people, a pillar of national stability, ensuring that those who contributed to our country—whether through military service, labor, or family—are not abandoned. As a leader, it is your responsibility to protect Social Security for future generations. I demand that you: 1 Publicly oppose SSA staffing cuts and office closures that hurt service efficiency. 2 Reject in-person verification mandates that create unnecessary barriers. 3 Make a firm, public pledge to defend Social Security—without hesitation. The strength of a nation is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable citizens. Defending Social Security is not just right—it is patriotic. Will you stand up for America’s seniors, veterans, and workers, or will you allow them to suffer with full knowledge of what is at stake? I await your response.
