Support Legislation to Overturn Citizens United and Reform Campaign Finance

I am writing to urge you to support legislation that would overturn Citizens United and fundamentally restructure our campaign finance system. The 2010 Citizens United decision did far more than allow unlimited political advertising. It fundamentally altered how campaigns are funded, how outside groups operate, and who holds leverage in American elections.
The current system allows unlimited corporate spending to influence our elections, giving disproportionate power to wealthy interests over ordinary constituents. This undermines the principle of equal representation and creates a system where elected officials may feel more accountable to their largest donors than to the voters they serve. When corporations can spend unlimited amounts through super PACs and dark money groups, the voices of individual constituents are drowned out.
I understand that overturning a Supreme Court decision requires either a constitutional amendment or new legislation that addresses the Court's reasoning. I ask that you cosponsor and actively support any constitutional amendment that would clarify that corporations do not have the same constitutional rights as people and that Congress has the authority to regulate campaign spending. Additionally, please support interim legislative reforms that increase transparency in political spending, strengthen disclosure requirements, and close loopholes that allow dark money to flow into our elections.
Several states have already passed resolutions calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, demonstrating broad public support for reform. This is not a partisan issue. It is about ensuring that our democracy works for all citizens, not just those who can afford to buy influence.
Our campaign finance system should amplify the voices of constituents, not silence them with unlimited corporate spending. I ask that you make overturning Citizens United and comprehensive campaign finance reform a legislative priority. Please inform me of the specific actions you will take to advance this critical reform.
