DoD’s Content Removal, Misuse of Taxpayer Funds and Altering Historical Accuracy

I am writing to express concerns about the Department of Defense’s (DoD) recent decision to remove DEI-related content from its social media platforms, in compliance with DoD Instruction 5400.17 and recent executive orders. The DoD has deleted or altered posts related to gender, race, equal opportunity, and observance months such as Black History Month and Women’s History Month. This also includes the removal of “firsts,” like “first female Ranger,” and terms such as “gender,” “culture,” and “social justice.” This revisionism risks erasing important strides in gender equality and seems like a misallocation of taxpayer dollars.
Could you clarify the costs associated with this initiative? What resources are being devoted to removing or altering such content across the military branches? Additionally, what steps are being taken to preserve the accurate history, rather than replacing it with a distorted narrative that overlooks the contributions of women and minorities? Was this decision approved by Congress, and how does it align with DoD’s core priorities?
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
