An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve separation of powers and democracy

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The Trump administration has attempted to freeze money appropriated by Congress for critical services ranging from lifesaving cancer research to disaster relief to community grants for clean air and water. The so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is waging an all-out attack on government agencies, illegally usurping their functions and information technology systems. Recently, the administration also tried to shield it from any transparency requirements. Not only are these actions causing cruel and unnecessary suffering to people across the country, but they also go against the Constitution. This must not be allowed to continue. Members of Congress were elected to serve the American people and they must reassert their power to carry out their constitutional duties. No one elected Elon Musk. Legislators must use all available avenues to prevent further overreach by President Trump and the unelected billionaires running DOGE.
