Vote No on the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act

I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to oppose the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act as passed by the House on July 22, 2026 (216-212), and to strike or reject two provisions in particular: Section 219 and the appended SAVE Act. Reject Section 219, military integration with Israel. This provision would merge US and Israeli military technology and supply chains. Republican Representative Thomas Massie, who voted against the bill, called it a betrayal of our sovereignty. I share that concern. We should not permanently tie American defense infrastructure with a foreign government’s military, especially one credibly accused of committing genocide. A foreign government should not have any hand in our military nor should we be funding a military not our own. Reject the SAVE America Act attached to this bill. This provision would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and government-issued photo ID for all federal elections, including absentee ballots, and would mandate frequent voter roll purges. The Brennan Center estimates over 21 million Americans lack ready access to the documents this would require, not to mention the potential disenfranchisement of married women. Also, since many if not all of these documents require a fee to obtain, this would mandate an unconstitutional poll tax; for example, an ID card in Maryland costs $40. Attaching this to a “must-pass” defense bill is an attempt to force sweeping voting restrictions into law without a stand-alone vote, ahead of the fall midterms. Please vote no on this NDAA in its current form, and to insist that Section 219 and the SAVE America Act be stripped out and considered separately, on their own merits.
