Condemn DOJ Seizure of State Voter Records and Federal Election Interference

I am writing to urge you to publicly condemn the Department of Justice's unlawful seizure of state voter records and the Trump administration's unconstitutional attempts to nationalize our elections. These actions represent a direct assault on the federalist structure that has protected our democracy for over two centuries. The FBI's raid on Fulton County, Georgia's election headquarters, where agents seized 2020 election ballots, voter rolls, and digital data, sets a dangerous precedent. The DOJ has now sued more than 20 states demanding access to voter files and election records that federal law explicitly prevents them from accessing directly. In Minnesota, Attorney General Pam Bondi threatened Governor Tim Walz with the removal of ICE agents unless the state surrendered sensitive voter registration records. This is coercion, not lawful governance. Trump's executive orders banning mail-in voting nationwide and requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration exceed federal authority. Federal courts have already struck down portions of these orders, confirming what constitutional scholars have long maintained: the federal government lacks legal authority to dictate how states administer elections. The Constitution reserves this power to the states. The administration has also implemented a secretive national citizenship database to verify voter eligibility. The lack of transparency surrounding this system raises serious concerns about potential disenfranchisement of eligible voters, data privacy violations, and misuse of sensitive personal information. These coordinated efforts to centralize control over state election systems threaten the foundation of our democratic process. I am asking you to take a clear public stance defending election integrity by condemning these DOJ actions and Trump's calls to nationalize elections. Your constituents need to know you will protect their right to vote and defend the constitutional separation of powers that safeguards our democracy. Will you commit to publicly opposing these federal overreach efforts and defending state sovereignty over election administration?
