End our involvement with Israel

For far too long, the United States has been intertwined with Israel as a way to exert influence over the Middle East. It is abundantly clear that our extensive involvement in the region has been for the sake of American interests at the expense of the actual people living there. We can look at the way the United States backed the mass displacement and slaughter of Palestinian Arabs in the creation of Israel, the way we enabled a coup and installed a puppet dictator for the sake of oil in Iran, the way we invaded and decimated Iraq under false pretenses, and more. We claim to champion freedom, but we impose our economic interests on the rest of the world. It is hypocritical, and it is wrong. It is my hope that we will take steps to reduce our efforts to influence the rest of the world and refocus on supporting American citizens. We can start by reducing our inexplicable support for Israel. There is no reason we should be spending billions of dollars sending bombs and weapons for Israel to use to slaughter the Palestinian people with impunity. There is no reason we should be bringing sanctions against ICC officials, vetoing UN resolutions, targeting those who speak out in support of Palestine, etc. There is no reason it should be illegal to boycott Israel or that we should equate opposition to Israel with Antisemitism. None of this is actually improving the lives of Americans. It is a waste of our taxpayer dollars. It is also incredibly immoral and inhumane to continue enabling genocide. I urge you to do whatever is within your power to oppose our continued entanglement with Israel. This could take any number of forms, from opposing definitions of Antisemitism that conflate criticism of Israel with hate speech to opposing funding of Israel's military. This relationship is so pervasive that there is work to be done on every level of government. Please, do whatever you can.
