The U.S. Department of Education must allocate the fiscal year 2025 education appropriations immediately to ensure critical funding reaches states, schools, and programs serving millions of students, educators, and communities. Delaying the release of these funds, which have already been allocated in the continuing resolution, is unacceptable and detrimental as it will negatively impact education for students. Title III of the Every Student Succeeds Act provides $890 million for English learner programs that over 5 million students rely on. The $85 million for Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act supports 16% of adult education participants. Additionally, the Migrant Education Program ($375.6 million), Supporting Effective Instruction State Grants ($2.19 billion), and 21st Century Community Learning Centers ($1.33 billion) remain unfunded. These programs are essential for providing equitable educational opportunities. The Department's inaction undermines states' ability to effectively plan and budget for the upcoming fiscal year beginning July 1st, which will negatively impact education for students. Immediate allocation of these appropriated funds is imperative to uphold the nation's commitment to education and prevent harm to students.
