I strongly disagree with the "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism" executive order. Denying the existence and rights of transgender individuals is a violation of their basic human rights and dignity. Gender identity is a fundamental aspect of one's identity that deserves respect and accommodation, not erasure. Banning transgender people from using bathrooms and other facilities that align with their gender identity is inhumane and unconstitutional. It puts them at risk of harassment, violence, and psychological harm. Everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable accessing public accommodations. This order promotes harmful discrimination under the guise of "protecting women." In reality, it marginalizes an already vulnerable group by dismissing their core identity. It sets a dangerous precedent of enshrining bigotry into law. I urge you to reconsider this regressive policy that flies in the face of human rights and American values of equality and inclusion. Transgender rights are human rights. Please listen to advocates, experts, and the transgender community itself in developing policies that affirm their existence and ensure equal protection under the law.
