Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
I spend my days trying to not cross paths with anything Trump. Hard to do since he’s now back everywhere you look. We just can’t look away from a train wreck.
But the thing he seems to be wrecking is the country. He sure does seem unhappy with all things America doesn’t he?
So I’m wondering how y’all feel about the GOP front runner for Prez in 2024 hating on the country he wants to run? Now that he’s mashing the potato that is Ron DeSantis into oblivion, seems like y’all are gonna be stuck with him.
Never mind that the majority of the country will walk through fire to make certain he’s never ever allowed to desecrate the office ever again. You know that. Polls show that.
Polls also show that most of the country is on board with the various ongoing investigations involving him. They don’t believe it’s all a witch hunt. Polls show that too.
So, you have a candidate that has the darkest, most dystopian vision of, and for, the country ever voiced by a candidate for president. And a complete disregard and disdain and desire for ‘death and destruction’ for the bedrock institutions that make and keep our democracy strong.
This is your party vision now? No pride in your country? A race to the bottom to see who can dis and denigrate us the hardest?
And more icing on this awful cake…Mr. Trump held a rally recently in Waco, with the added benefit of a 20 year commemoration of an infamous event that should never be commemorated. There, the GOP standard-bearer stood on stage with his hand over his heart while loudspeakers played not the national anthem but a song recorded by January 6 insurrectionists. Footage from the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol played on a screen behind him.
What is your party saying to the country? And you can he say he doesn’t speak for you, but he is. And he does. And he will.
I can tell you for certain the rest of us are saying ‘Oh hell no.’
