I am writing to urge you to protect and strengthen Social Security. Social Security is a vital program that provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to millions of Americans. It is a promise earned by workers who have paid into the system throughout their lives. Please oppose any efforts to cut benefits, raise the retirement age, reduce cost-of-living adjustments, or privatize Social Security. Instead, Congress should focus on strengthening the program so it remains secure for future generations. One fair way to do this is by ensuring higher-income earners pay Social Security taxes on more of their earnings by raising or eliminating the payroll tax cap. Social Security should remain strong, stable, and reliable for everyone who has earned it.
