An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Impose an arms embargo on Israel for the barbaric murder of Ali Abu al-Fahm

The murder of Ali Abu al-Fahm, a paralyzed elderly man in a wheelchair, by an Israel Apache helicopter gunship firing from the air is a horrific and unjustifiable act. As detailed, Ali and his family were forced to flee their tent when it came under indiscriminate attack from quadcopter drones firing at random. After fleeing to Mawasi al-Qarara which was a so-called “safe zone” designated by Israel, they were again subjected to a brutal assault by Israel forces using tanks, helicopters, and drones that rained bullets down on the civilian tents. Despite his family’s desperate efforts to protect him, the 58-year-old Ali was struck by helicopter fire that severed an artery, leading to his agonizing death from blood loss over 12 hours. This senseless murder lays bare the callous disregard for civilian life. Facilitating such wanton violence through the provision of weapons only enables more suffering. An immediate arms embargo on Israel is a necessary moral imperative to prevent further atrocities at the expense of hardworking American taxpayer dollars and uphold human rights.
