Restore Full Funding to the NOAA and the National Weather Service

I am writing today regarding the Trump regime’s gutting of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Weather Service as part of its fake efforts to reduce government spending. Thirty NWS offices currently do not have a Chief Meteorologist, including offices which serve major metropolitan areas with large populations, and which are subject to extreme weather. Additionally, staff cuts at all NWS offices have reduced the monitoring of weather patterns, which increases the likelihood that necessary warnings will not be issued in time to alert people of impending extreme weather events such as tornadoes and hurricanes The money supposedly saved by these staff reductions—which will line the pockets of Trump and his cronies—is a fraction of what it will cost to repair and rebuild after weather disasters. Further, no amount of money will make up for the lives lost due to the lack of timely warnings, and the misery suffered by those in the path of the weather events who survive Congress MUST restore full funding to the NOAA and NWS. Failure to do so will result in avoidable deaths, injuries, and trauma. Thank you for your time.
