An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Calif. only)
California needs Climate Action
3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I'm writing today to ask you to support critical bills that would help tackle the climate crisis and protect communities in California.
Please support:
* AB 1395 (Muratsuchi, C. Garcia) to commit our state to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by no later than 2045. 0ease advocate for changing this to 2035. We have to make significant changes Now!
* SB 596 (Becker) to slash greenhouse gas emissions from the cement industry. Include funds for research and development of carbon sequestration in concrete
* SB 47 (Limon) to help clean up abandoned oil and gas wells, which pose a major risk to the climate, our environment, and health. Make sure that oil and gas companies producing and/or selling petroleum products in California are paying for this cleanup through their business taxes, licenses or fees.
* AB 1389 (Reyes) /SB 726 (Gonzalez) to help increase the amount of clean, electric vehicles across the state — especially in low-income and disadvantaged communities — by investing in technology innovations and charging stations to support them. We need the state to support more charging stations before people will feel comfortable buying the cars!
* AB 43 to improve the safety of walking, biking, and other modes of clean transportation in California. Everywhere in this state need more bike lanes that are separated from traffic or wide enough that biking is safer! So many people I know have been hit by cars when trying to commute on bikes. Walking is difficult in many communities because so much of California was designed around making it easier for cars. This has to change.
