Pass SB1165 So Cost Never Delays a Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Please pass SB1165 and end the out-of-pocket cost-sharing that insurers charge for breast cancer screening exams. A screening only saves a life if a woman can afford to walk in the door. When a mammogram comes with a surprise bill, plenty of people in Arizona put it off, and a delayed exam can mean a cancer caught late instead of early. That is a choice no one should have to make over money.
This bill fixes that by making sure breast cancer screening exams come with no cost at the point of care. It is not a partisan idea. SB1165 is sponsored by Republicans and Democrats together, including Hildy Angius, Frank Carroll, Eva Diaz, Catherine Miranda, and Carine Werner. The Senate already engrossed it on March 2. That kind of bipartisan support is rare, and it tells you this is simply good policy that protects families.
I want every legislator who still has a vote on this to move it forward. Keep the cost barrier out of the way so an Arizonan can get screened the moment she needs to, not whenever she can scrape together the copay. Early detection is the difference between a treatable diagnosis and a tragedy. Pass SB1165.
