United Healthcare Punishes Autistic Children, You Can Help

I recently discovered that United Healthcare is reducing care for autistic children to increase profits. United manages Medicaid for numerous states and receives payment based on the number of subscribers. Any money not spent on care is retained as profit. I’ve included a link to the ProPublica story for further reading: (https://www.propublica.org/article/unitedhealthcare-insurance-autism-denials-applied-behavior-analysis-medicaid)
I’ve reached my breaking point with the way health insurance companies exploit people. Universal Healthcare eliminates such issues by being non-profit. Remember that commercial insurance companies incur overhead costs of 12% to 20% of claims, amounting to $400 billion annually, as reported by the Congressional Budget Office.
I urge you to support universal healthcare, such as HR 3421, or its upcoming replacement, and prioritize the well-being of your constituents rather than the insurance companies that prioritize profit over patient care. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
P.S. Denying care for financial gain is a characteristic of private insurance, including Medicare Advantage programs, which would become the primary option for seniors if Trump’s privatization plan for Medicare materializes.
