I am writing to urge you to strengthen our gun safety legislation through the reinstatement of the bipartisan assault weapons ban to help prevent mass shootings and gun homicides.
I'm urging you to take action through this ban on assault weapons to: criminalize the importing, selling, manufacturing, transferring, or possessing of a semiautomatic assault weapon or large-capacity magazine.
In addition, I’m also asking you to take action by:
- Keeping guns out of dangerous hands
- Taking additional steps to support communities impacted by gun violence
- Holding the gun industry accountable
There have been more mass shootings than days in 2023. Enough is enough. We're tired of mourning and we're tired of being afraid. Every person in America deserves to feel safe in their classrooms, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
Please do all in your power to strengthen gun safety legislation to prevent more senseless tragedies.
