Limit Money in Politics To Restore Our Representative Democracy

I am your constituent and I want you to know that billionaires and corporations have spent staggering sums of money in the wake of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision to elect their candidates of choice. Since Citizens United, election spending by billionaires has skyrocketed by more than 16,000%, reaching a total of $2.6 billion during the 2024 election cycle. Elon Musk alone spent more than $280 million to support Donald Trump and the Republican Party in 2024, proudly proclaiming, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election. This staggering amount of money drowns out any other voices and opinions that oppose the positions of these billionaires and so the wealthy are able to buy the votes and thus get the legislation and regulations that suit them and not the vast majority of Americans. There are two bills in Congress now that can help take the voluminous dark money out of politics and help make sure that our government is really a representative democracy. They are H.R. 2352 and S.4602. Both would limit contributions to PACs to $5000. I want you to cosponsor and enact these bills and restore our democracy to the American people. I promise I will listen to your words and watch your actions.
