Support Vote & Vote YES on these Coastal and Ocean Protection Bills

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to support these two bills, recently re-introduced: The bipartisan Coastal State Climate Preparedness Act and Ocean Acidification Research Partnership Act. The climate crisis poses a grave threat to our coastlines, coastal communities, and marine ecosystems. Rising sea levels, stronger storms, and declining fisheries are already impacting all coastal regions. These bills represent a crucial step towards safeguarding our coastlines and marine environments for future generations. It’s imperative that we take decisive action to address these challenges. The bipartisan Coastal State Climate Preparedness Act and Ocean Acidification Research Partnership Act provide a much-needed framework for protecting our oceans and fisheries. As you probably know from its original introduction several years ago, the Coastal State Climate Preparedness Act provides grants to coastal states. This will enable them to plan and implement strategies to mitigate climate change impacts, prepare for sea level rise, and safeguard critical infrastructure and ecosystems. Meanwhile, the Ocean Acidification Research Partnership Act will allocate funding for vital research on the detrimental effects of ocean acidification, a rapidly worsening threat that endangers our fishing and tourism industries, as well as countless jobs and economic activity. I urge full support of these bipartisan measures and prioritize the protection of our oceans and coastlines in the face of the climate crisis. We cannot afford to delay action on this pressing issue.
