Block Trump's $1.7 Billion DOJ Slush Fund for Jan. 6 Rioters

Stop this $1.7 billion slush fund before it happens. Reports indicate Trump is planning to drop his $10 billion IRS lawsuit in exchange for a government compensation fund he would personally control — one designed to pay out Jan. 6 rioters, with recipients and amounts hidden from the public. Sen. Ron Wyden called it "among the most corrupt acts in American political history." He's right.
Trump would appoint and remove all five overseers of this fund at will, drawing money from an existing DOJ settlement pool. The scheme was essentially designed by Mark McCloskey — the St. Louis attorney who pointed a rifle at Black Lives Matter protesters and now represents hundreds of Jan. 6 defendants. McCloskey told HuffPost the plan "sounded exactly like what we had proposed almost a year ago." This is a taxpayer-funded bailout for insurrectionists, engineered to benefit the president personally and run without any public accountability.
A hearing is scheduled for next week. Use every tool available — legislation, oversight, public pressure — to block this settlement before it's finalized out of court. The American public deserves to know who gets paid and why.
