An open letter to State Governors (N.D. only)

Fargo choice voting

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Ranked-choice and approval voting methods offer voters more choice and flexibility in elections. By prohibiting these methods, this bill unjustly restricts the rights of local communities to decide their own election processes. Fargo residents overwhelmingly chose to adopt approval voting through a ballot measure in 2018, demonstrating clear public support for this system. Overriding the will of voters sets a concerning precedent and undermines principles of local self-governance and voter empowerment. Rather than limiting voting options, the state should defend citizens' ability to implement methods that increase engagement and better reflect the full range of voter preferences. This bill represents an overreach of state power into local affairs driven more by partisanship than substantive concerns over election integrity or administration. Respecting local control and voting rights is paramount to a healthy democracy. I urge you to veto this legislation and uphold Fargo's right to continued use of approval voting as decided by its residents.
