Defend states' authority over elections and voter data

The Department of Justice's efforts to obtain voter roll data from states raise significant concerns about federal overreach and potential misuse of sensitive personal information. States have a constitutionally protected role in administering elections, and demanding access to comprehensive voter records represents an unwarranted intrusion into that authority. There are legitimate privacy interests at stake as well, as voter rolls often contain sensitive details like partial Social Security numbers that could be exploited if improperly handled or centralized at the federal level. This administration's fixation on debunked claims of widespread voter fraud does not justify such an unprecedented move. States already have robust procedures in place to maintain accurate voter rolls and remove ineligible individuals. The federal government has no compelling need to duplicate those efforts or compile a national database of voters. Rather than sowing further distrust in the electoral process, the DOJ should focus its resources on upholding voting rights and ensuring free, fair elections at all levels of government. I urge you to vocally oppose these misguided attempts to federalize voter data and take concrete steps to protect state control over elections. Our democracy depends on it.
