Denounce Plainfield Twp Trustee Bob Reminga's Behavior & Demand His Resignation

I am a voting constituent writing to express my disgust regarding the behavior and social media posts attributed to Plainfield Township Trustee Robert Reminga. I urge state leadership to take a decisive public stand against bigotry and to compel his resignation. Following the circulation of an appalling social media graphic advocating violence against Muslim residents, the Plainfield Township Board voted to censure Reminga and request his immediate resignation. Rather than demonstrating accountability, Reminga defended his posts, refused to resign, and walked out of the meeting. This incidence is not an isolated mistake or a "hacking," a documented, years-long pattern of bigoted and hostile behavior, both in person and online. As local boards lack the statutory authority to recall elected officials, communities are left with long, expensive recall efforts when a leader repeatedly targets marginalized groups. Elected officials hold a sacred duty to represent and protect every constituent. Continually harboring and expressing violent anti-Muslim sentiment fundamentally violates public trust and threatens community safety. I strongly urge you, as representatives of our state, to explicitly denounce Mr. Reminga’s long-standing conduct and join community members in calling for his immediate resignation. State leaders must make clear that systematic hate and intimidation have no place in Michigan’s public office.
