I am writing to raise concerns about a potential conflict of interest involving Elon Musk, a presidential advisor and questionable director of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), with his direct involvement in SpaceX and Starlink—both of which benefit from significant government contracts. Specifically, I am concerned about Musk’s influence over FAA contracts, including the recent Starlink contract to upgrade airspace communication systems.
Musk’s companies have received billions from the U.S. government, including around $12 billion for SpaceX from NASA and the Department of Defense, and additional funding for Starlink through the FCC. His role in DOGE, overseeing government spending, creates a potential conflict, as he is influencing decisions that directly benefit his companies.
Given the concerns about fairness and transparency, I urge you to investigate whether Musk’s role in DOGE is properly separated from his business interests in SpaceX and Starlink. Musk should either recuse himself from decisions involving his companies or step down to avoid any appearance of bias.
As you, Trump, and Musk have emphasized, transparency and accountability are critical to maintaining public trust, and this issue warrants careful attention to ensure fairness in government contracting.
