CBO report seems important, but better messaging is: “If we can’t afford to employ veterans or provide their benefits, if we can’t afford to fund our schools or feed our children, then we definitely can’t afford a $100M birthday party for the president or a big tax cut for billionaires." Normal folks don’t care what a CBO report is. What they do care about is being told they have to go without while billionaires get even more money. Marie Antionette messaging works. Ask her.
