Expose, Oppose and Vote NO on Andrew Hughes for HUD Project 2025 Ally and Fraud

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to oppose the nomination of Andrew Hughes to be Deputy Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He did nothing in the first Trump term of any note or value, and now he’s allied with Project 2025. That means automatic disqualification in my book.
As a contributor to the pernicious, mean-spirited, and violently racist Project 2025 and an ally of the fringe white supremacist Heritage Society, Hughes is utterly unfit to make fair and impartial decisions on the mission of the Department.
His close ties to the Trump administration and track record at HUD under Secretary Ben Carson raise red flags about his commitment to advancing fair and affordable housing policies for all Americans.
His work for the contrived Ben Carson organization “American Cornerstone Institute” that is play-acting for “Faith, Liberty, Community and Life” (but does none of those things) shows his low propensity for truth and fairness. He’s just in it for a paycheck, until this nomination came along.
The deputy secretary role is crucial for effective oversight and implementation of HUD's mission. Hughes' previous tenure was marked by efforts to scale back fair housing rules and divert funds from programs assisting low-income renters. He would do nothing to improve the agency and advance its mission, but would likely be a willing participant in the cutting of programs that help working class communities and the poor, because that the point: Helping people is not his skill.
His nomination signals a continuation of this administration’s policies favoring private industry over the housing needs of vulnerable communities. Thank you.
I urge you to scrutinize Hughes' record thoroughly during hearings, expose his bias, and vote NO. Instead I urge you to discard this man as a useful public servant in that NO vote, and work to ensure the next deputy secretary will uphold HUD's obligation to promote equal access to safe, affordable housing without discrimination.
