Oppose HR 7176: Protect Climate Progress and Energy Costs

I am writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 7176, the "Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act." This legislation threatens to undermine critical climate progress by prioritizing the interests of the fossil fuel industry over the health and well-being of our communities and our planet. The Biden administration's pause on new LNG export facilities is a necessary step toward reassessing the impacts of such exports on our climate, economy, and energy costs. This pause reflects a commitment to updating our approach to LNG exports based on the latest data and analysis, ensuring that our energy policies are aligned with our climate goals. H.R. 7176, however, represents a dangerous step backwards. Such a giveaway to Big Oil and Gas is unacceptable, especially at a time when we should be accelerating our transition to renewable energy sources. Furthermore, attempts to attach amendments to must-pass legislation to overturn President Biden's LNG export pause are deeply concerning. These maneuvers put the interests of fossil fuel companies above those of our allies and the global commitment to move away from fossil fuels. I urge you to stand with President Biden's climate leadership and oppose H.R. 7176 and any similar efforts that threaten our progress towards a sustainable and equitable energy future.
