New laws and bills that clamp down on our rights would infringe on cherished civil liberties core to American democracy. I urge upholding robust First Amendment protections that allow society to openly address complex issues through robust discourse. Our nation's ideals of liberty and justice must be steadfastly defended against attempts to criminalize lawful protest.
