Ban Conversion Therapy — Follow Colorado's Lead

264 so far! Help us get to 500 signers!

Colorado just showed every state in the country how to get this done. After the Supreme Court struck down the original ban in Chiles v. Salazar on First Amendment grounds, Colorado legislators rewrote the law — viewpoint-neutral language and all — and passed House Bill 26-1322 on May 7th. The Court's own concurring justices signaled that this approach would survive scrutiny. There is no legal excuse left for inaction. Conversion therapy is not a legitimate medical practice. It is a discredited, harmful intervention that causes lasting psychological damage, particularly to young people. Colorado's new definition — banning any practice that directs a patient toward a predetermined sexual orientation or gender identity outcome, regardless of direction — is a constitutional model ready to be copied. I want you to introduce or co-sponsor legislation that follows this framework and bans conversion therapy in our state now.
