Ceasefire now

Ceasefire now. Ceasefire now! What will it take to recognize that we are funding genocide? What happened to "Never Again"? Why do you put so much emphasis on the side with all the American funded weapons and so little air time to the civilians who have been barely surviving under terror, famine, illness, without even any hospitals left in Gaza? If the political state of Israel had anything to do with the Jewish faith, they would be rending their garments in dust and ashes, remembering the words of the prophets, of Amos, of Isaiah, all the repeated calls to care for the "widows and orphans and foreigners in your midst," instead of turning the Palestinians into dust and ash, instead of creating widows and orphans and then finding excuses to kill them, too. How many more journalists need to die? How many more children? How many more settlers will be given automatic rights to the land stolen from Palestinian farmers who have tended their vines and olive trees for generations, while those same generational farmers are bulldozed out of their homes, shot in their backyards, hunted down in their own streets? Israel deserves better than this plague of bloodshed it is enacting on the land. The land deserves better than this horror of waste and ruin. Israel's children should be allowed to be children and young adults without the rhetoric of xenophobic fear and the weapons of war in their hands before they are even old enough to graduate high school. Israel cannot build its security on this slaughter. Do not let them ignore their own prophets. Ceasefire now! Stop worshiping war. The world is burning, we have bigger things we need to unite on for all our sakes. What kind of light to the world, what kind of salt of the earth, can Isreal be if it is planted in these fields of innocent blood? The Nakba never ended, it continues from 1948, and it is long past time to end the warring madness, long past time to learn to grieve, to weep, to mourn all of this mess. We will never be able to heal, to rebuild, if our first answer to fear is always explosives and bullets and dehumanizing in order to excuse our atrocities. Netanyahu is a right wing terrorist. His armies would be trained here in Atlanta, GA, next to our own American police forces, and would reign the same ugliness on monitory communities within our own borders. This cannot stand.
