Oppose Taxpayer-Funded Payouts Related to January 6th insurrection

I am writing to you today as your constituent to express my strong opposition to the use of taxpayer dollars for payouts, settlements, or "reparations" for individuals involved in the events of January 6th. Specifically, I urge you to support and co-sponsor the following legislative efforts: The Anti-Cash Grab Act (S. 3195): Martin Heinrich (D-NM) & Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Pending. House already passed a repeal (427-0). Sen. Lindsey Graham has blocked quick passage in the Senate.To repeal the provision allowing for $500,000 payouts to members of Congress over phone record seizures. The No Torts for Trump Act (S. 3182): Adam Schiff (D-CA) & Mazie Hirono (D-HI), In Committee. Introduced Nov 2025; currently being debated as a barrier to civil lawsuits.To ensure that individuals pardoned for crimes related to January 6th cannot sue the government for "wrongful prosecution" or lost wages. The No Rewards for J6 Rioters Act: Alex Padilla (D-CA) & Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). Introduced Today. Drafted specifically to counter recent calls for a J6 compensation fund.To explicitly ban the creation of any federal compensation fund for those convicted of crimes on that day. No Settlements for Law Enforcement Assaulters: Alex Padilla (D-CA). Prohibits tax money for civil settlements if the defendant was convicted of assaulting police.Introduced Today. A direct response to the $5M Ashli Babbitt settlement. H.R. 5371 (Budget Amendments): Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA). Strips funding from the 2026 budget that could be used for J6 "kickbacks" or refunds. Critical Deadline. The House is debating these amendments tonight before the Jan 30 funding deadline. As a taxpayer, I believe it is a fundamental misuse of public funds to provide financial windfalls to those who participated in an attack on our Capitol.
