Protect our MVC data!

ICE has a new trick up its sleeve, and it’s coming for all New Jersey residents if we don’t do something to prevent it NOW. Using their facial recognition software and accessing our MVC records, they are retrieving personal data. To prevent this unprecedented access to our personal records, we must work to curtail ICE's direct access to our MVC data unless they provide a judicial warrant for a criminal investigation. We should join states like New York and Illinois in preventing our personal information from being used to target residents participating in First Amendment-protected protests. And beyond this short-term narrative, we should fear what will happen to our data when ICE and the Trump administration inevitably fall as all empires are wont to do. Our data is our identities. Our data is forever.
