President Trump started his term by issuing blanket pardons for over a thousand people. He didn't make an effort to examine specific cases. He pardoned them all because these were his people. These were the people he called to action. The people like him, ready to damage democracy itself in order to hold power for himself.
Now come the news of new pardons. He is providing pardons to others like him. People committing fraud. The latest pair is a couple that the federal government said and a court convicted of defrauding banks of millions of dollars, money the federal government likely had to retire. Convicted also of defrauding the federal government over years, not paying the IRS half a million dollars in taxes and not even filing taxes for several years.
Trump says he is trying to stop fraud and abuse... Unless it is by people like him. The rich, the loyal, they get a pass. It should have been obvious when his pick to run the IRS himself owes the federal government millions in taxes, that will go unpaid. Money that people like your constituents in Iowa will have to make up for in lost healthcare.
Pardons aren't for the president's friends. They aren't for people who have been proven to have bilked the federal government of millions of dollars.
And I want to hear you stand up for the sanctity of the process. What legal basis is there for these pardons?
This blatant cronyism has me livid. You should be angry about this too.
