Thank you for all that you have been doing to oppose President Trump's unqualified nominees and his other irresponsible actions. But his recent attempts to seize illegal powers to fire federal employees and to take control of government expenditures authorized by Congress requires more organized and unwavering opposition. I saw this call to action from Indivisible after Trump's recent abortive funding freeze, and although that has been rescinded, I think that the current state of chaos that the President is causing still merits the below actions. Democracy is at stake, and Senate Democrats must respond as if the Constitution is on the line—because it is.
Please unite with other Senate Democrats to:
Shut Down the Senate. Use every procedural tool—quorum calls, endless amendments, and withholding consent—to grind Senate business to a halt. No votes, no deals, no cooperation until Trump realizes that his apparent project to dismantle the federal government are ill-advised.
Commit to oppose all nominees Most or all of his nominees are unqualified or corrupt and are just another part of his attempt to break our system of government.
Refuse to Negotiate. Trump is using federal programs and workers as hostages in a power grab.
Democrats must refuse to engage in any funding or debt ceiling negotiations. Make no compromises with dictatorship.
Back Legal Challenges. Support every lawsuit challenging this freeze. File amicus briefs, amplify cases, and make it clear this isn’t just morally wrong—it’s illegal.
Sound the Alarm. Every senator must become a megaphone for what’s at stake. Go on TV, hold town halls, and flood social media with the stories of families who will lose food, homes, and healthcare because of Trump’s chaos.
Please do all you can to defend the constitution and your constituents!
