An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect federal workers from undue political coercion and resignations

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

This program raises significant concerns about potential political interference and coercion in the federal workforce. While voluntary on paper, the rushed timeline and lack of transparency hint at a broader agenda to downsize key public service roles through resignations. Federal employees have statutory protections against politically motivated terminations under the Civil Service Reform Act and Whistleblower Protection Act. Forcing resignations would violate these laws and civil service principles of non-partisanship. Rather than pressuring dedicated public servants, we urge safeguarding federal employment from undue political influence. Employees should be able to make career decisions free from coercion or fear of retaliation. We request legislative action to protect federal workers' rights and ensure the deferred resignation program operates transparently and without ulterior motives that could jeopardize vital government operations and national interests.
