An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Tell the NPS: Don’t erase trans people from Stonewall

21 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am incredibly alarmed to see the National Parks Service page for the Stonewall monument has erased all mentions of trans people. It’s even removed the T from LGBTQ. Let me be incredibly clear: there is no Stonewall without trans people. This is blatant erasure of history, and a pitiful attempt to co-opt queer symbols for political gain. We will not allow it. First the Air Force removed the Tuskegee Airmen from training. Then DoD cancelled women’s history month. Now NPS’s website displays inaccuracies with a proud vitriol. This year’s world pride is in DC, the heart of our government. This is an international embarrassment. Tell the National Parks Service to add the T back into LGBTQ. Share the true story of Stonewall, or stay away from our community entirely.
