USAID is a critical part of American national security and soft power. It's also a major buyer of produce from American farmers, an important provider of health and education services, an major employer in the US and around the world, and a crucial way that we export our democratic values. Trump and DOGE's hollowing out of the program is illegal and also just very wrong - it's against our system's check and balanced and it's against our country's values. If we need to review the programs and projects USAID supports to reduce waste or to better align with Trump's agenda, that should be done through independent oversight review and through the congressional budget and not unilaterally by the president and Elon Musk. Please insist that USAID is allowed to carry out its mission.
