Support TPS Extension

Support TPS Extension   I am writing as your constituent regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and the pending legislation to extend it for Haitian TPS holders.   On June 25, 2026, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Mullin v. Doe cleared the way for the administration to terminate TPS for Haiti and Syria. Haiti’s TPS status expired July 27, 2026, affecting roughly 330,000 people who have held legal work authorization and deportation protection, in some cases for years.   In April 2026, the House passed H.R. 1689, extending Haitian TPS through 2029, in a 224-204 vote that included 11 Republican members. The Senate companion bill, S.4814, was blocked from a unanimous consent vote by a single senator’s objection on July 22, meaning it never received an up-or-down floor vote.   In addition to being a humanitarian crisis for the individuals losing their protected status, business organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, have raised concerns about significant workforce disruption in sectors that rely on TPS-holding employees— particularly home health care and elder care, industries that are already suffer from staffing issues —warning of labor shortages if the program ends abruptly.   I ask that you:               1.         Support S.4814 or successor legislation extending TPS for Haiti and push your colleagues to do the same, and             2.         Support bringing the bill to a full recorded floor vote rather than allowing a single objection to block it procedurally.   Thank you for your attention to this matter.
